Dr Jennie Gu is a General Surgeon with advanced training in Breast and Endocrine Surgery. She completed her medical degree with Honours at the University of Queensland in 2009 and undertook general surgical training across Queensland before developing subspecialty interests in breast and endocrine surgery. She completed BreastSurgANZ post-fellowship training, with fellowships at Lyell McEwin Hospital in Adelaide and Royal Perth Hospital, gaining extensive experience in breast and endocrine surgery, including advanced oncoplastic and reconstructive breast cancer techniques.
Dr Gu returned to Brisbane in 2023 as an Acute Surgical Fellow at Ipswich Hospital and has been a Consultant Breast, Endocrine and General Surgeon since 2024. She has public appointments at Ipswich Hospital, and Mater Hospitals, South Brisbane and Springfield. She is actively involved in surgical education and training and has completed the Graduate Certificate in Advanced Surgery (Breast Surgery) at the University of Sydney. She is the Breast Unit training supervisor at Ipswich Hospital.
She provides care in breast, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, general surgery (including laparoscopic procedures, hernia, gallbladder and skin cancer surgery), and endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy).
